Copy Right
I'm sure this question should be obvious but to tell you the truth I have no idea how to copyright a book or go about trying to submit it to a
publisher or even finding one. I could use some help please.

First: I've downloaded your manuscript from Critiques. Much to read. Too much before going to bed. I will read it and respond by Thursday, if not
earlier. The format is single-spaced. Publishers (editors) will not even bother to read it if the manuscript is not double-spaced.
Second: You do not need to copyright your manuscripts, they are protected intellectual property. If a publisher contracts for your work, the publisher
will handle the copyright matter.
Third: A previously unpublished author should first read the submission requirements of his or her selected publisher. A letter (Query) should first
be submitted that provides a synoposis of the manuscript, the background of the author, and writer contact info.
Michelle Devon owns Accentuate and is the expert on everything editorial and publishing. She will greet you shortly in your intro thread, and likely
come here and address more thoroughly these concerns of your's.
If you want an excellent opportunity to find your name on the cover of a book, enter some of Accentuate's Anthology contests. These are theme
excercises. The current open theme is "The Wedding", though the previous "The Engagement" may still be open__I don't know if the deadline was extended
or not for that theme.
The Best to You. You've come to the right place. Have fun and prosper.
__The Robert

You don't need to do anything to copyright a book. A copyright is affixed to your work immediately upon putting it down into tangible form (on paper
or on the computer).
When you are ready to present the book to the public, you'll want to register your copyright with the copyright office. However, most publishers will
do that for you, and it's best NOT to register your copyright until your book is ready to be published.
As for looking for a publisher, the best way to get published with a major publisher is to find a reputable agent.
None of this matters until you have a finished manuscript, perfectly polished and edited, and you have a solid query letter and/or book proposal
(depending on what type of book you're submitting). Once you have these things, then you can start your agent search - though beginning to search for
them now is a good way to get a feel for them so you know what to expect when you're ready to start submitting.
How far along are you on your manuscript?
Love and stuff,
Michy

finished.

Pirate, a couple of things - first, your link in your signature goes to a private myspace blog, with no way for anyone to add you as a friend - it
just says it's private and wouldn't even take me to your profile page. Thought you might like to know.
Secondly, I'm going to go into the feedbacks section where you posted your story and leave you some feedback.... just wanted you to know to look for
it, since it doesn't automatically show up if you're not signed into the critiques section with the password.
Love and stuff,
Michy
