Win an Envy 15 laptop for your prime-cut literary travesties

From the Boing Boing offer:

"The Envy 15 (about which you can read more at HP's website) has a 15.6" LED-backlit 1920x1080 display, 6GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, an Intel Core i7 processor and an ATI Mobility 4830 video card with 1GB of dedicated RAM. It comes with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit installed. There are more pics here.
So, what do you have to do to win it? Re-write a scene from one classic book in the incongruous literary style of another. Winner to be announced this friday, so get cracking. (Only registered commenters are eligible, obviously.)"

So, if you want to enter, register first.

Interesting project! Kind of like writing a scene from Narnia where Aslan the lion is a drug-addicted Cadillac driving attorney, and written in the voice of “Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas”?

Interesting, indeed.

I seemed to be looking down from an immense height upon a twilit grotto, knee-deep with filth, where a white-bearded daemon swineherd drove about with his staff a flock of fungous, flabby beasts whose appearance filled me with unutterable loathing.

I thought of you when I drifted onto this contest, Derek. I thought of you taking a scene from Stephen King and rewriting it in the style of Lovecraft....
