greetings and whatnot

I just found this board from a post at AC. Thanks to Michy for all the work of keeping it updated.

My name's Jennifer. Nobody irl calls me Jenny, and I drive a Miata, not a Corvette. But the name kinda stuck anyway.

I'm a writer of mostly fiction... some horror, some erotica, some satire. Scary, dirty, or funny... sometimes all three if I'm lucky.

I'm 31. I've been a bartender since I was 19, despite my higher education. They let me write behind the bar and play pool while on duty, so it's a dream job, really. I have a fantastic boyfriend whose only flaw is that he doesn't read enough of my writing. But then again, if he read the stuff I write about him, there'd probably be hell to pay. Wink

I also housesit on the side because I love animals. And I stir up local politics with my blog News from Broken Springs. Once I even was nearly arrested over my local writing.

Here is a link to my page at AC, where I post a lot of my general satire.

Glad to be here.

Aw, Jenny, I'm sorry and I'm sure most everybody else is, too.

There must have been something catching us away from seeing your intro.

Welcome, and please post more often so we don't lose track of you again.

Yea, I dunno how I missed this post. Sorry! Welcome to the club. :)

How the heck did this get 309 views and only 6 welcomes?

I wasn't even a member back in January of '08, so I can't say I missed this, but welcome back!

I wonder if something screwy went on with this thread when the servers got changed. I've never seen a member get NOT greeted here!

Once again, WELCOME to our little corner of the Net. :)

That's more like it. Thanks for the welcome, guys. I'm sure I probably just got lost in the shuffle before.

This thread was probably carried over from the old forum. As I recall, all the introduce yourself posts were carried over, but not the replies. Welcome back...since it looks like you haven't been around much since you signed up, I'll go ahead and give you my standard welcome. :)

I’m sure you’ll find us to be a warm, friendly, helpful group…oh, and fun, too!

Something you might find really exciting here is that we have short story contests with cash prizes and publishing contracts in our print anthologies. It’s a great motivator to get you writing, and we all cheer each other on.

Here’s a thread you should definitely visit as soon as possible—it tells you all about our contests on the board, other opportunities for submissions, cool features of the board and more! It'll also tell you about secret, private parts of the forum not everyone can get to without permission, and how to access password locked sections of the board as well.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask... if I can't answer it, someone else probably can!

Enjoy your stay! Keep writing!

I thought that might be the case, Jennifer. :)

We are a very cordial group, and we pride ourselves on never letting someone feel cold and alone.

Yes, that's why I'm here now. My story got picked for the horror anthology, so I figure this might be a good place to hang out.

Thank you for the warm, if late, welcome.
