I warned you guys might have questions, and they are ready to answer them here.... so enjoy! I moved this over to the paying leads.

I checked out the site earlier, and don't see major red flags, but I admit I didn't dive too deep into it. You guys feel free to look into it and let us all know what you think!

Hey Steph,
I read the TOS page and didn't see anything that said it (but I might have read over it). Can you give us an idea (a range is fine) of the lengths of articles and the pay?

Thanks!

No problem!

Each article is 250-700 words and the writers can make from $8-$24/hr depending on how fast they can write.

This seems a lot like DS. I'm going to sign up and give it a shot. Didn't see any mention of what the payment per article is like though.

Yea, I make a decent chunk with DS now, but another avenue would be super to check out! :)

I was just accepted as a contributor. Titles cover all spectrum of areas, however, there is an abundance of porn related titles. All the titles currently listed are listed at $8. The guidelines are similar to those at DS.

I claimed one title and have a limit of 5. I'm going to write it and submit it later.

Payment is only once a month which is the only big downer I can see but the titles are workable and interesting. Lots of the titles are blog post style writing.

Will let you know how it works out for me!

We're actually doing bi-weekly payments now, not monthly.

And our site is not a porn site. We have an abundance of articles in every category. It has just worked out so far that our Most Viewed articles are in our Sexual Health and Sex categories. Go figure. Haha.

I hope you like working with us Mystress Gaia!

Steph,

I just applied so will see what happens!!

I have been busy writing for Bright Hub, Textbroker, Edubook, some for Associated Content, some for eCopywriters, etc., so I thought I'd give your website a try.

Thanks for clarifying that it is not a porn site since that would not interest me. But I didn't think so because when I got to choose in the categories, there were many "normal" ones to choose from.

Hoping to work with you!!

Jackie Barlow

I also applied for this opportunity this morning (fingers crossed) . I hope the turnaround is as quick as the others. I, too, am looking for an alternate to DS as I make a pretty good chunk of change with them, but sometimes the titles are a little tough.

Hi again, Steph

I applied and was accepted very quickly!!!

But starting to look at the topics offered, I found pages that were due TODAY. That was too soon for me. If there is no deadline mentioned, does that mean that it is "open" and doesn't have a deadline date?

I noted that there were hundreds of pages of topics, and I haven't had time to look at them all. Is there any way to narrow them down to deadlines or something so as not to have to look at so many?

What do you suggest?

Thanks!!

Jackie Barlow

The current deadlines stated are not enforced, Jackie.

But in the very near future, we will begin to enforce a deadline that will give you 5-7 days (after claiming) to write your article.

Don't forget to read and adhere to our guidelines.

Wow. I'm excited about the responses.

You guys can reach me at socampo@break.com with your questions, too. Or you can also use the internal messaging system on Break Studios as well.

Thanks guys!

Steph,

I wasn't complaining! Just giving others a heads up that there are a lot of porn-type article titles. I know some people who might get shocked by that. Sex sells! I grabbed a title about Angelina Jolie and sex scenes cause I love her sex scenes. She is hot, hot, hot and that is coming from woman ;)

I liked the abundance of titles and payment 2 times a month rocks even more. Two questions I have though are; Are limits on articles raised at any point? And when an article goes in the queue can you claim another or do you have to wait to see if it is approved?

Okay, make that three questions- Will the due dates be extended for them? They all say they are due today. That's a bit of short notice for many of us. Most of us like to have at least a couple days to do research and write especially because of other gigs we might have going on.

Thanks! I look forward to working with you!
Linda

Linda,

Can't wait to read your Angelina article - I LOVE her, too!!

And yes, the limit of the articles will raise. As a new writer, you will be able to claim 5 articles. As you get more articles submitted and approved efficiently, your limit will increase.

Hope that helps!

Well, I got accepted but I didn't claim anything yet. Today was a school day so I think tomorrow I'll be browsing topics! Now the only thing I am confused about is that the guide said we will be paid within 45 days of the work being accepted. Is that the normal turnaround for payment there or is that just the longest it would take?

Lorraine -

We pay bi-weekly for articles approved in the previous pay period. It could take up to 45 days, but never should. If it ever does take that long, e-mail me and I'll get it taken care of.

Wendy,

Right now, all articles are $8. It might be too early in the program to say when/if the price will change. But when it does, I will personally let you know.

Wow! I'm so excited about these responses. I hope you guys enjoy working with us. :)

Happy Friday, everyone!!!

Thanks, Steph, for continuing to answer our questions and in such an explanatory way. These are things that come up when we really get into a site, and no matter how much you try to get into the FAQs, etc., there are always more questions.

It is so nice to hear that you are now paying bi-weekly!! I know that hasn't been changed in the info now on the site, so it was good for you to tell us, as an extra incentive. Also that we do not have to wait 45 days to get paid (which would not make most writers happy).

I have some projects to complete and then will be back in there seeing how much I can participate.

Best of luck to Break Studios. I look forward to working with you, too.

I just received my acceptance and I am so excited. I see a lot of great titles to write and I think I am really going to enjoy writing for Break Studios. I do have a couple of questions.

What are the actual pay periods and deadlines to get paid?

What are the pay dates?

How long does is take for an article status to be updated to published? And is the writer not paid until it is published?

Reese,

After the article is approved and status is "Ready to Publish," the article is submitted for payment.

We pay bi-weekly as of now. We issued a payment last week - so a payment should be issued late next week.

The time it takes between article submission and article publication varies - depending on # of re-writes. The fastest way to get published and paid is to follow our guidelines meticulously.

I hope that helps!

I just wanted to update my fellow writers on my personal progress on this site. I submitted one earlier this week and though I would wait to see how long it took to publish or reject...or whatever. I still don't have a response, but no big deal there really.

What I REALLY felt the need to mention is that these articles surely need to be written in Word or at copy and saved there before you try to save or submit it. I've lost a couple already because I didn't do that. I am not stepping away from the laptop in frustration of my own ignorance lol.

Hellooooo,

I just wanted to drop in and let you all know that we've raised our claim limit from 5 to 10 articles.

And our due dates have changed, as well. Now, everyone will get 7 days to write the article after claiming it.

I hope you guys are all enjoying your Break Studios experience so far!

Steph :)

My first article just got accepted without a re-write request! :

That is great we can claim more articles. And the due dates being extended is great too! What I was wondering is, why can't we claim more articles after we write and submit them? Steph, do you think that can be changed anytime soon? :)

Steph,

It says on the guidelines we can use an off line reference. How do we do that? For example: I just wrote an article on How to Install a Windshield with my husbands help. How do I use him as a reference? Thanks. :)

[Husband's name], who has worked in automotive body work for X years, says installing a windshield is easy. He says that doing blah makes blah better. Let's look at some of the blah he said blah.

You don't have to necessarily put him as: Source: Name, date, etc., for most places. Just a simple mention that so and so who is an expert on this for X reason, said such and such. That's usually enough for most places.

Love and stuff,
Michy

Hopefully Steph will drop in or one of you who have submitted to Break Studios! I can't figure out how to submit. Every time I hit submit it makes another draft. My status on the article still says "write"...what am I doing wrong? This one actually says it is due tomorrow and I am hoping it falls under the category as not being enforced as above.

Someone please help!

Thanks for responding Clarissa,

Glad to know it might be their end, as the submit process looked simple enough, but sure wasn't working! I did send Steph a U2U here and sent a message through the inbox at Break Studios. I am just panicking because of the early deadline. I hate to have my first article late, or however they handle them.

Guess I'll just wait to hear from them. Thanks again,

Donna

Hi, Donna

I'm the other one who had the same problem of the article not submitting.

I did hear back from Steph today, and she said to be sure to "save draft" first before submitting, which I had not done. But I did have to go back and re-do everything because it hadn't been submitted at their end. Thank goodness I had saved a copy of my article (also my first one).

When I did the "save draft" even the word count also came up then (which hadn't worked). She also said it might work if you push the "word count" button. I didn't try that.

I also tried to "save draft" after entering my 3 suggested other articles, and then those disappeared!! So I had to type them in again and hit "submit".

Then it all went through and I got a message on there and in an e-mail that I had submitted the article.

Gee, what a lot of trouble, isn't it??

Let us know what you hear, also, about the deadline, etc.

Jackie

Hi Jackie,

Thanks for the info. I still haven't heard anything from Steph. I am going to go try your instructions and see if I have any luck. I hope this is a glitch that they get fixed!

I'll be sure to post if I hear from Steph about deadlines on these first ones.

Well that didn't work! Now I have 6 drafts of the same article and my status on it still says "write." I guess I have to wait until she answers me to figure out what to do. I can't even figure out how to delete the other 5 drafts that have appeared every time I try to submit. I have another one written, but I am not trying to submit it tonight or I'll have a real mess on my dashboard!
