Meaning behind your avatar
On a previous post I asked Robert what was he doing in his avatar.
There was meaning behind it so I expounded on the thought.
What is the meaning behind your avatar? It could be as simple as you liked the picture to a more complex reason.
My avatar shows the last picture I took with my mom before she passed away.
The sweatshirt I am wearing was given to me on my birthday several years ago. I love that sweatshirt.
Actually being a triplet, one of my younger brothers got all three of us a sweatshirt.
Sharon's says 1 of 3 and it has a picture of a flower since she loves gardening.
George's (mine) says 2 of 3 and has a distorted symbol of Superman (copyright issues?) because I love comic books.
Mark's says 3 of 3 and has an anchor because he was in the Navy and Coast Guard.
What about anyone else?

My av is from New Years um two years ago... I was drunk I think LOL toted the champaign bottle around all night, but um I'm not very photogenic and
don't like to have pictures taken of me LOL... there are very few of me and the hubby together actually; just happens this is semi decent. I've
noticed, speaking of photos in general, that over the years, I've taken a lot less photos than I used to. Not sure why this is.... hmmmmm anyhow the
pic in my av was taken in my kitchen, which has gross wall paper in it LOL. I have a hat on well cause it was cold that night! Our town lets off
fireworks on New Years so we were getting ready to go outside. We've got more recent pics together, but I like this one cause well, we just look
goofy
Buy the ticket, take the ride.

I needed a head shot, so I talked to a couple of local photographers and it was going to be like $80. I didn't want to use someone cheesy like
Walmart, so I made Greg take a pic in our backyard with our cheap camera. It turned out to be one of the best pics I've ever had taken of me.

Mine was taken around my son's birthday this year. I was really struggling with some heartbreak for a while and not very fond of myself. I love this
pic because it's me at my most comfortable and in my zone. I'm sitting at my desk looking out the window. My hair is in braids for two reasons.
1) Braids are just way comfy. Maybe I feel that way because of my Native American heritage 2) I sometimes feel that they pay tribute to the child
inside of me. Just wearing them makes me feel somehow more relaxed.
So this is me in a semi calm period of finding myself again.

Mine is actually a candid shot of me that I feel captures my personality really well.
It was taken after a joint birthday party for three of my friends who had just turned 18. There were five of us left sitting around, and for whatever
reason we were all sitting on the floor. I had left the room for a moment, and this was me coming back in. I pretty much exploded into the room. I
flung the door open and threw my arms out dramatically. It was just luck that my friend Courtney had her camera out at the time.
Notice how my face is at door-knob level? I have no idea how I managed to bend that low without falling over.

Mine is me sitting on Castle Rock, on Ross Island, Antarctica. The time is about 1 AM (post-midnight-sun in effect). In the background is Mt. Erebus,
an active volcano (fumes mostly for the past several centuries at least) about 20 miles away. The entire area is very quiet as the only other person
within 10 miles or so is my friend who took the shot. No animals, no traffic, no cities, no planes (at least not at that time of day). A very zen
moment.

I don't remember why I picked this tree. It was my avatar over at Associated Content first. I like the Dr. Seussian simplicity of it. It's just stuck
to me now. It's like my company logo.
And I'm too shy to put up a real picture of myself.

I tend to change avatars to keep up with what I have been doing. This one was from a day out on the boat a few weeks ago. We are accustomed to
seeing a few porpoises but this day we must have seen nearly 100. I was in swimming with them and my wife, the photographer, captured some incredible
playful pictures. This was my favourite.
Next week we are off to the races in Ohio, I am sure my avatar will then be swapped to some shot of me in a fire suit fueling a car or some other
adventure.
The triplets thing has lots of opportunities, as a Dr Suess fan I would have had Thing 1, 2, and 3 shirts. Yes, I realize there were only 1 and 2 in
the book...

Mine was taken while outside playing with my kids this morning. We were goofing around with the camera, and my 9-year-old snapped this one of me. I
thought it captured my personality well. You should've seen some of the others when we were hamming it up for the camera!

Mine is, as many of you know, my classic car that I'm trying to bring back to life. As any old-iron enthusiast knows, it's WAY more than just a car
to me; it's a huge part of me, and of my life. It inspires me, it relaxes me, it excites me, it "takes care of me" in a way. Hard to explain unless
you are a car nut like me.
Some of you may remember my typewriters. I *loved* those avatars for so many reasons.
1. A typewriter is the medium that SO many classics were written on. Hell, some still are!
2. It's just a machine, with letter and number keys, but when touched by the right person it becomes a very powerful tool. It's kind of like the sword
in the stone. Not everyone can make it work right, even though there is absolutely nothing hidden from view, and no tricks. It's just a machine with
a LOT of power.
3. Everyone (except retired secretaries, I imagine) loves the clacking and dinging and sliding sounds that a solid typewriter makes. It's just
pleasant to the ear, and especially to the ear of a writer of fiction. It resembles adventure.
I seemed to be looking down from an immense height upon a twilit grotto, knee-deep with filth, where a white-bearded daemon swineherd drove about
with his staff a flock of fungous, flabby beasts whose appearance filled me with unutterable loathing.

Mine is a few years old. I picked it because it was good, and I don't take good pictures. It was taken in my living room and I was standing between my
father-in-law and my husband. I don't think I've changed much since then.

My avatar is a picture I found online that truly represented my user name and what I was doing most of the time. I use flyingbird65 a lot of different
places and spent most of my days online - sometimes as much as 16 hours. This avatar was perfect. Now if I could find something with a bird holding a
fishing rod, looking at a laptop I would have it made.

My first avatar here was snapped by my old man while we parked for the Tantric, Drowning Pool, Jet Black Stare and Saliva concert. I was wearing my
black du-rag in it. In the second photo, my old man took it outside so it looked professional. It is on my bio in the book Elements of Time.
The latest one is a pentagram wrapped with white roses. I really liked the picture.

Well, your guys' pictures have a lot of meaning to them. I used to have a head shot I took of myself in winter but I swapped it because I looked too
depressed in that one (even though I wasn't).
And the meaning of my current avatar is :
Birdie!
I like birds. And their pretty colors. I like flowers for the same reason.
I know it may be odd for a guy to like flowers and birds and bright colors, but I do and I think they reflect a lot of who I am.

Mine is a picture of me with my labrador, Remington, and his first CPE Agility ribbon. He's my special needs boy. He has the attention span of a
gnat. He's cute as a button and a crowd pleaser at shows, but can't focus very long, and that makes training very difficult. So to have earned this
blue ribbon was very special indeed

The picture I'm currently using as an avatar was taken at Christmastime at my mother's old house. The full picture has me sitting with my son and my
nephew, with my arms around them both, but it's cropped for here to show just me. I picked it because it's one of the very few pictures of me that
wasn't really 'posed' - it sorta shows me just naturally, without a lick of makeup, my hair not done, just kinda spun and put up some, not dressed up
or anything - just... me.
Love and stuff,
Michy

...I like Vincent D'Onofrio.

Right now this is my avatar
It captures someone I really like and throws in some quirky humor. That sums me up, really. Ones I've used are a lot like this one, ex:
Sometimes they're more inside jokes, but either way I think I like to at least THINK that when I post my avatar might get a quick laugh to someone's
day. ^_^
Now here's my face!
That one is kinda old. I know - here's from my wedding last nov that I might use sometime, because it's recent and it sums me up REAL well

It's such an odd angle, and I was a little tipsy which would explain why I stole my dad's tie

Mine is just a photo I snapped of my desk, one moment in time. I try to avoid ever posting a photo of myself, as it tends to attract unwanted
attention, and I just don't understand it. I know its more "professional" to post a headshot, but I find I'm treated more professionally without it!
I also use a phoenix quite regularly, or one of the thousands of photos I take
myself.
Depends on my mood really.
