What do you do when submitting a short story to a contest or magazine if the guidelines don't tell you anything about font, font size, line spacing,
etc. ?
I like the Courier New required for Accentuate contests, but when it's some other thing and they don't say what they like, I'm thinking it's probably
safer to do TNR.
Yes. I read on some agents blog the other day, or maybe it was a submissions guideline, to use TNR or any similar font, but to absolutely NOT use
Courier. He/she hated it. Lots of people don't like it, so I'd play it safe and not use it.
But long ago, courier was the font of choice, because it was the font that most closely resembled a typewriter. Some of the longer-lasting agents
still want it that way.
THe importnat thing to remember here is that if the formatting and such were important to them, they would have put that on the guidelines. If it's
not there, it probably doesn't matter as long as it's professional.
That said, I did a video about what to do with formatting and such in the absence of submission guidelines:

I use Book Antiqua for formatting the anthologies. As far as printing goes, it prints the very best, darkest, least dithered lines.
