Bad Experience with ReviewStream.com

I was browsing through sites where I can submit my writing for some money and stumbled upon Reviewstream.com. The basic is we submit reviews and if they are accepted, we will get paid either with their bulk rate or their current rate.

So I tried and submit a product review. This was a product review for Body Shop Deep Sleep, with around 100 words. Just after I clicked submit, a page appeared displaying this:

"YOUR REVIEW IS NOT VALUABLE AND WE'RE NOT INTERESTED IN IT.

YOU CAN :

- USE YOUR BROWSER BACK BUTTON TO RETURN, IMPROVE YOUR WRITING AND TRY TO SUBMIT AGAIN

OR

- TRY TO SELL IT ELSEWHERE

NOTE: PLEASE BE INFORMED, THAT WE'RE NOT REVIEWING REJECTED REVIEWS. "

Wow, that is rude! How can they reject my review before even reading it? And if they have any reason why my review is rejected, they do not say it. I am pretty annoyed by that.

It seems that legitimate paying writing jobs are rare indeed.

By the way, in case anyone wants to know, this is the review I submitted:

"I always have difficulty sleeping so I always try to find something to help me sleep naturally. I don't like using drugs or medicine and prefer homeopathy remedy. I tried another products before but it didn't work. However, I have used Body Shop products extensively and I usually find them effective. This is why I decided to try Body Shop Deep Sleep Pillow and Body Mist.

The smell is natural and pleasant, unlike fake perfume-y smell from another product I've tried. I spray it on my pillow and it really helps me relax. So far, this product helps me sleep on regular night. Of course, when I am really anxious or stressed out, it does not work, but I don't expect it to.

All in all, this is a very good product and recommended by everyone who has trouble sleeping."

Yes, I do think it is very rude. I don't have much experience with them, as in, haven't heard many authors talking about them. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I must disagree about legitimate paying writing jobs being rare though. I have hundreds of them posted right here on the board.

As for the review, it's pretty good, but there are grammatical errors in it. Would you like me to show them to you?

Love and stuff,
Michy

lydya- if you want to write product reviews, I DO recommend Shared Reviews. They just completely overhauled how they are paying, so none of us is exactly sure what the revenue share will be. However, they are POLITE, fair, friendly, (and a little slow sometimes), but they always come through with the cash even if it's delayed a little bit.

The new scheme has levels of residual income that you unlock by completing levels. In addition, writers will be paid based on pageviews that come from outside of SR (no clicking your friends' stuff), which is much more fair to those who don't have many reviews than the old system.

I'm currently in the #1 spot there (who can believe that!?). You do need a 200 word minimum for reviews, but there is a lot of possibility for new people to do well, if you can write decently.

If this interests you, I'd only ask that you sign up under me, ok?

Hi Michy,

I'd love to if you can show me the errors. It was written quickly so it was bound to have minor errors, I know, but most of the other reviews have much lower quality than what I wrote. I'd understand if they rejected my review AFTER they have read it. However, it was an automatic response because they display the page right after I clicked the submit button.

I know there are a lot of paying job leads, but they're mostly for US citizens, so it's harder for me to look for paid writing sites.

Joan, I've tried SharedReviews, but they are for US citizen only. :( Btw, I live in Indonesia.

It was a very rude way of rejecting someone automatically.

Perhaps they are looking for a certain word count and reject automatically under that?

Maybe they are just unpleasant web-masters. Grr.

I think it's a pretty rude way to reject a submission even if they had read it and it was terrible (which it wasn't).

Tell me about it. Anyway, I've read their guidelines before I wrote that, and I didn't find any word count requirement.

lydya- Not just US, but they have restricted it to a list of English-based countries. Sadly... people like you suffer because a raft of spammers from SE Asia and India were trying to bring down the site, and also because the TOO awful reviews from those who did not even try to use proper English became too much to handle.

I'm so sorry I spoke before I asked where you are.

If they are rejecting them without reviewing them, it would seem they would not know if it is valuable or not. I would say watch to see if what you wrote shows up somewhere else. Could be a way of getting info to use themselves and not pay anyone.

Maybe they are only looking for certain reviews with specific keywords? It might have been rejected because they don't need another 'Body Shop Deep Sleep' review. It's just a thought. But they are certainly rude and don't seem very helpful if they are trying to attract writers.

Beyond rude, but it does make me wonder how it decides the review is unacceptable. Did you write to them to see wth is up with that?

Jenn- they are just changing up the whole system. The new one has residual levels for those who have worked hard, write well, and stuck around long enough. There are several of us who are up to $60 a month for a very small amount of required maintenance. It will take a while for someone new to work up to that, but new people are treated fairly.

We are also going to get PPV. That has just begun this month, and we don't have a clue yet how it will play out. It seems to me that it will be more fair to all writers than the previous system.

Since I'm doing well there, of course, I'm happy with SR. If you want to try it, I'd ask that you sign up under me, if you don't mind. You/ anyone can use the link http://sharedreviews.com/signup/author?ref_nick=Sharkbytes
