Black Rose/Wild Rose Press

So I'm happy to say my werewolf-werecat manuscript got requested by the senior editor of the Black Rose line so I've submitted it. Now I'm back to biting my nails.

Who else here has experience with Wild Rose again? I know the board is the first place I heard of them.

Yea there's a whole thread about them somewhere here, or used to be. Super cool news! Good, good luck. :)

I seemed to be looking down from an immense height upon a twilit grotto, knee-deep with filth, where a white-bearded daemon swineherd drove about with his staff a flock of fungous, flabby beasts whose appearance filled me with unutterable loathing.

Just keep writing and the good stuff will come.

Thanks, Derek. I've actually read some of the older threads. I was looking for more current info.

I have a friend who published through them and she has nothing but great things to say.

Also, Nancy met some of their staff at a conference she went to, so she may know more.

Yeah, I was quite impressed with their editor-in-chief, who I met at a conference. And I have a friend who has three books out with them. She is pleased with them. They don't give advances, though, only royalties. But they are very supportive. The only negative I can think of is they don't place books in bookstores because they don't take returns. I understand that got too expensive with places ordering and then returning books. But that's a small things in the scheme of things. Good luck, and keep us posted on how it goes.

Thanks, Moonshadow, Nancy,

I'm just totally stoked. I can't wait to see if the short story gets accepted. I've tried to learn as much about the publisher as possible but I haven't been able to attend a conference which sounds like an awesome experience.

Thanks so much for humoring me! :D

Yup, they are a reputable small press - mostly an e-press, but they do put out some print books of some of their titles.

They are new-ish in the scheme of things, but been around long enough they have established themselves well.

Congratulations on getting a request on your story! That's very exciting!

Love and stuff,

One of my marketing clients has her romance novel being released by them in June. She has had great things to say, too!

Congratulations!
