Web Presence Impact

So I have a pretty big web presence. It's not famous by any means! But simply by typing my name into Google, a person has immediate access to almost all of my work.

What is the impact of this, if I want to pursue publication? Should I seriously consider the painstaking messiness of cleaning up my web presence? Does it really matter if I have a personal site that broadcasts a significant portion of my writing?

Thanks bunches, all!

It does matter if the writing you are trying to get published is contained in the writing on the web... if it's different writing, then having a web presence is a good thing.

If you're trying to publish something and have excerpts out of that writing then you need to get those removed now, long before you start to submit.

I have a huge web presence... but short of some small excerpts on my own website, anything I would consider publishing with someone is not on the internet....

The problem with typing your name into the search engine is simply that. People are not likely to search for your name, but what they want to find. Where is your name then? Is it on the first page in Google or nowhere to be found?
