What do you write about on your author site blog?

Your genre and associated book reviews, movies etc.
How to write and how you write
How to self-publish
Your personal life

All of the above?

All of the above, some of it, whatever you want.

Some authors like to talk about the publishing industry, get somewhat political about it. Some write about their personal lives. Some write excerpts and short 'freebie' stories for their readers. You can talk about works in progress, cover reveals, inspiration for stories, about your characters not behaving.

Really, anything goes...

You can also host other authors, which will bring you a lot of traffic. I'm planning on doing that when I launch my author site. Do interviews with other authors in your genre (and don't forget about cover designers too :P )

You can do contests and giveaways to encourage word of mouth and such. I see people use the Rafflecopter system. Seems to be the most popular.

Contests and giveaways bring a lot of fast traffic--and then some of those might stick around and read you when the contest is over.... plus, contests give away free copies of your book in an 'advertising' sort of way, without advertising directly. It usually results in some reviews that way.

Doing author interviews benefits both you and the other author with page views to your blog and advertising your books. Authors are usually really eager to have someone host an interview. It's more promotion in a completely different venue--reaches a whole new potential audience of readers. It helps get you out of your own circle and into another one or two--big plus.

Mood: Glittery, but maybe that's from paint fumes.

I helped with an inlinkz problem a couple of months ago and the guy showed his appreciation by giving me a 2 month free coupon. I'm not ready to do any link parties or figure out how it works. Is there anybody here that could put it to good use?

From the email:

:The coupon is for 2 months on both tools (the Project manager and the Linkup tool) and you can either
use it or give it away. When someone redeems it , it says you are awesome ! :) "

I wasn't sure what to do with it so he sent me this reply:

Hi Cyndee,

If you want to give it to someone, just give this code. They can redeem it from their InLinkz account page. You can even throw a giveaway for it (and get some traffic more).

You can always keep it as it is good for a year since the time it is issued. If you create an account, go to your account page and there is a redeem coupon button there.

If you want to know what you can do with it, you can check the following docs on how to use Inlinkz (and why)

About the Linkup tool

and

and about the project manager:

and
Monetize your crafting/diy blog using the InLinkz Project Manager

Hope this helps!

Aris, InLinkz.com

You may notice he specifically said crafting/diy blog, but I think that was because it's what we were working on fixing at the time.
