What has everyone been up to?

I know, life happens. If someone were to shout in here it'd echo for several minutes.

Fill us in! What's been going on?

Me? I'm editing. And editing. And editing. I'm also in a local play, a musical, which has been taking up a large portion of my free time. In fact, all of it, lately.

Other than that, eat, sleep, work, repeat.

I seemed to be looking down from an immense height upon a twilit grotto, knee-deep with filth, where a white-bearded daemon swineherd drove about with his staff a flock of fungous, flabby beasts whose appearance filled me with unutterable loathing.

Just keep writing and the good stuff will come.

It's been a long summer of extra medical troubles here for me, and a bit for hubby too. On the other hand, we recently adopted another great shelter dog, so we are back to having two hairy babies again. Keeps me going! :)

What are you editing and editing and editing? And, what is your role in the play all about?

Whew! Okay, here's what's been up...

    *Ended a relationship
*Moved (...kind of obligatory, so no explanation)
*Left Alaska moved to Washington State

...let's pick it up there.

I landed a little job in the tech field and found a room in a house
with one of the people in the company. This is where it get's interesting.

The folks I'm rooming with had planned on going on vacation.
Well, they had a ticket for someone who couldn't make it at the
last minute. The ticket was non-refundable, and I was invited to
Mexico. I pay for food, when appropriate -- you know how
community food is, think back to college or your first apartment if
you went to work instead of school -- they had a little house they
had already rented; I got a room on the house.

So I spent a week in Mexico, with all the usual sights, smells,
sounds, and weather. Came back with a nice tan to Washington
State where I was probably the only guy in Washington State,
from Alaska no less ...the only guy in Washington State with a
killer tan.

Nice.

Homesickness began setting in.

Let me pause there. I've been footloose most of my life. Not a
Military Brat, but never stay in the same place for more than a few
years. Having lived in Alaska? I missed it. At this point I made a
decision: I'm going to plant roots in Alaska.

I was reading a book on writing, or art (same difference, really...)
about how the difference between a professional and an amateur
Is that at some point the "professional" made the decision:

"I'm a professional"

...and I'm not going to niggle about dictionary definitions, I'm
creating the notion of a successful mind-set of a paid working
artist. It was in this moment that I realized I had never decided
I wanted roots anywhere. And I decided I wanted Alaska
To be where I put down roots. This has all been in the last couple
months.

It's too late to make a long story short. I'm planning on moving
back to Alaska sometime next year, probably in February. I found
someone selling a school bus, and I'm converting it into a livable
home.

Meanwhile, I'm still building a few websites on the side, fixing computers, and living in wonder at it all...

Thanks, Skwerly!
