This year, I have set up a donations page from Accentuate Writers, and I would like all of you to consider getting pledges or people to sponsor you
and we will work toward a goal of a $500 donation to NaNoWriMo this year.
I'm not sure you all know what this program does, but they have helped fund literacy programs, helped build or establish libraries in countries where
education is slim, they run a NaNo for kids to foster the love of writing for them, and so much more. They are a non-profit, 501 (c) 3 organization,
so your donations are tax deductible.
I figure if we pool our resources together, and everyone promotes and tries to get sponsors, we can donate at least the $500 target from all our
sponsors and anyone who can afford a small donation.
If you don't have the money to donate, don't feel bad - just promote the page and the donations to others and that's just as good as giving. The money
doesn't come through me or through Accentuate - it goes directly to NaNo through their parent company, the Office of Letters and Light.
Please consider donating, blogging about donating, getting others to sponsor you in your quest to reach the 50k mark and making a pledge to donate
based on how many words you write, etc. Let's get together and give!
Ok I now consider myself the Official cheerleader for those of you doing NaNoWriMo. I have made a (small) donation and I urge all of you try to do
the same or get sponsors!!
Go Go Wri Mo!!!!
I know it doesn't start until November but it feels good to get hyped!
Even though I am not participating in the NaNoWriMo thing, I am going to do a blog post and help promote this too! Good luck to all of you who are
doing the NaNoWriMo thing and I will definitely check it out next year.
