I Need Your Quote!
If you guys and gals wouldn't mind helping me out a bit... I need to get the press releases for the contests sent out and I would like to use some
quotes from you guys...
... this would give you some publicity (though not a live link in most cases, at least your name out there!)
I need one or two sentence 'sound bite' quotes about what the Accentuate Contests have done for you, your writing career, your confidence, your
whatever...
And you can do this even if you didn't win - In fact, I'd kinda like a quote or two from both sides - winners and entrants who had the courage to
enter even if they didn't win this time.
You can put your quotes here in the thread - but be sure to give me the name you want displayed when I quote you.
Thanks bunches, ya'll!

"Before the Accentuate contests, I showed my writing to a few select people, not even most of my family had read my fiction. Now, I proudly tell
people I write fiction and happily share when they ask to read something I've written."

With each additional contest, I am learning more about what I need to correct to create a winning story. My confidence has soared, as a bonus, my
writing elsewhere is improving, and someday I will win a short story contest.

I always wanted to write fiction and I did when I was younger. When I became an empty nester, I started again but I had no confidence in myself. When
I found the AWF, I found a group of talented, supportive people. They gave me what I needed to just keep writing, improve, and get going. I didn't win
but I feel like a winner for my efforts.

Entering the Accentuate short story contest, for me, was the first step in working toward getting published. It is also how I found out what I need to
work on to achieve that goal. I am amazed by this group of caring individuals that spend time helping others to improve their writing skills, and in
awe of Michelle Devon, the lady who causes it all to be possible.

The Accentuate Short Story contest was where I spread my writing wings. The encouragement of other entrants, advice and helpful suggestions, and
friendship offered are invaluable for new writers, and will restore seasoned authors faith in their breathren. The Accentuate Short Story contests are
unique in that we all root for each other, share the joy when someone wins, and encourage growth for those who lose. Because of the Accentuate
contests, I know people enjoy reading my stories and I have the confidence to branch out and explore new avenues in my writing. Is there anything more
fulfilling for a writer?
It's a little long, but you can edit it if you can use it, Michy...lol

I'll think on this and come up with a quote. It'll probably be tomorrow morning before I'll be back in the forum. I'll be busy with family time this
afternoon and a get-together with church friends later tonight. I'll pop in tomorrow morning with something to contribute, though...promise.

"The contest and the people involved in this very special writing community have opened up a world of possibilities for me in fictional writing and in
all my writing. With that kind of support and encouragement, feedback and constructive criticism, my written words became more than just something to
dream about. They are now a reality."

"The Accentuate writing contests gives me the opportunity to write about themes I normally may never have touched. My editing has become much
stronger, as well as my language usage. It also provides me with more opinions about the story or my writing than I would have ever received before -
feedback is vital to any writer trying to improve!"

Accentuate has stretched me as a writer much further than I have ever been stretched before. I have always had a deep love of writing, but it wasn't
until I submitted my first short story to the Accentuate writing contests that I realized how much I truly needed writing in my life. In competing in
the writing contests I have poured my heart into a story only to painstakingly edit and revise to make the story stronger. I have had to stretch
myself and let go of my ego to put myself out there and face the rejection and eventual success that inevitably comes when you pursue anything that is
your passion.

(Feel free to edit that down, Michy!)

Entering the Accentuate contests helped me reach for my potential and search for what I was truly capable of. They also helped me learn from my
mistakes. I received feedback from my entries that didn't win and that helped me determine my weaknesses. The contests gave me the boost I needed.

Both stories I entered weren't chosen, yet I am a winner still. Without the Accentuate Anthology Contest, neither story would have been written, and I
would not have known my imagination never died.

"The Accentuate Short Story Contest was the first writing contest I ever entered. Until then, I knew I was a writer but always doubted my worth. After
becoming a semi-finalist with my first entry, I gained helpful writing pointers and the confidence to submit again. The second time around, I placed
third in the contest. Now, I'm realizing my dream of becoming published in a book. The Accentuate Writers Forum and its contests are helping me to
reach outside my comfort zone and expand myself as a writer."

Here's mine...
"I had given up on my dream of being a writer, never thinking I was good enough. Winning the Accentuate contest breathed life back into my dream, and
then helped me to achieve it. The contest changed my life by giving me confidence enough to quit my day job and become a freelance writer full
time."

It's still doing it?
I looked at it in two different browsers - FF and IE7.
What browser are you using?
Go into your browser and clear out your cache. It should be available once the cache is cleared, but it's truly odd.

Wow, this is really bizarre. I have cleared the cache, cookies, history, everything on both IE and FF. I have closed the browsers, reopened them, and
refreshed. I have even shut down my computer and turned it back on. I checked on my husband's computer and neither one of our computers shows this new
page. The first quote I see, every time is:
"Michelle Devon has a wonderful way of working with creative individuals and helping to get their point across. Instead of working like many editors
who impose their will on the written word..."
So, so weird.

When you get a chance, do me a favor? In FF, will you go to View, Page Source, and then copy and paste that entire page into Notepad and let me see
it?
If it's happening to you, it has to be happening to someone else too, somewhere.... I'd like to try to fix it.

Actually - I would pay you for your time if you can copy and paste the code from each of the pages that you can still see the old way - seriously,
PAY you for your time.
Tell me how much you're worth and then let me know if you even WANT to do it.

The ones I don't have at this point are:
Manuscript Services
Editing & Proofing
Review Services
eBook Services
Writing Resource Portal
Employment/Submissions
Services
.....
They should be, if you look at the URL, you'll see 'node' and a number?
I need:
node/5
node/6
node/7
node/9
node/10
node/11
node/14
node/15
node/16
