NaNoWriMo 2009 Has Launched!

Okay - they took the website down the other day for the launch and it's back up and running again and it's time to log in and update or create your account.

Let me give you a word of advice - DAY ONE is ALWAYS very slow and lags horribly.

If you ever think you MIGHT want to participate, TODAY is the day to log in and create your account or log in and update your account from last year. If you don't do it very soon, you're going to be sitting and wait, waiting, waiting for the servers that often time out and crumble under the first day's load. It often takes a whole week for the site to speed back up and get back to normal as the rush of new signups and eager participants slams them.

Register NOW!

You can read my pages about how to win NaNoWriMo here:

http://www.mahalo.com/how-to-win-nanowrimo

Here's how to prepare for NaNoWriMo, my own humorous but useful bent on it:

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/75887/how_to_prepare_for_n...

and lastly, for those who don't know what NaNoWriMo is, I've prepared this page:

Very cool! The season is upon us...

TIME FOR WRITERS TO WRITE! :)

I seemed to be looking down from an immense height upon a twilit grotto, knee-deep with filth, where a white-bearded daemon swineherd drove about with his staff a flock of fungous, flabby beasts whose appearance filled me with unutterable loathing.

I'm actually excited for NaNo this year. I was almost 100% positive that wasn't doing it this time. But I accomplished some great writing over the weekend, and it hit me that I really do want to do it. So, I'm in! I made sure all my info was updated and added my title. Yay! :)

So I've decided that not only is this a challenge to write 50,000 words in one month, but its a challenge to NOT write ANY words prior to that. I have my plot Idea. I know my characters. I am so ready to start writing. Very eager. And its taking every ounce of my self control to not start writing this story. I already blew it once and started writing what was supposed to be my nano story. I finally came up with a new plot idea and characters, but now I have to wait again. Waiting is not one of my strengths. Never has been. It's driving me crazy.

I was just reading through last year's NaNo thread on this board and seeing how excited everyone was in 2008. I'm so excited for this year!

I think the winning quote from last year's thread was this: " I ask, because we're currently working on #3 and I'm wondering if I'm going to go crazy w/ all of them about 2 yrs apart." from Lindsay, talking about kids.

 at Lindsay's comment from last year! That's too funny.

I'm signed up again this year. I plan to finish it a winner this time! Do we have a new thread anywhere with everyone's profile links? I'll have to see if I can find one.

The pain of waiting came up on the NaNo forums and somebody suggested writing a short story about your characters. I've been obsessing about the ending of my novel, which has practically written itself out in my mind, and I realized that I was also beginning to think about what the characters would be doing somewhere in the future. A sequel! So, when the need to write is too much to resist, I'll work on that. Started the other night and whipped out almost 800 words with very little effort.

It must be part of the craziness of NaNoWriMo that it can inspire you to start a sequal before the first word of the first novel has been written down.

I started doing that a while ago. Only mine takes place before the start of my novel.

I'm ready to start right now!

I really can't wait to write this story. Everything else in November may get pushed aside, but I will finish the novel. It's time!
