NaNoWriMo Sponsorship Offer

I will offer to sponsor every NaNoWriMo Participant on this.

Sign up for NaNoWrimo.

then Sign up for the sponsorship program:

http://www.gifttool.com/athon/MyFundraisingPage?ID=1891&AID=777&PID...

I've set up an Accentuate Writers team over there, for anyone who wants to join it. Click on the link above, and then you'll see below the money chart, a place that says 'join my team'.

Then if you finish NaNo, I will pay $10 for every person who signs up and completes.

I'm sponsoring you to finish NaNoWriMo.

You can also get others to sponsor you too, but it's a great way to give a little something back to NaNoWriMo for all the good they do for writers everywhere and for children and literacy around the world.

so sign up - then register for sponsors, and I'll go and sponsor every person who does this and posts here in this thread for $10.

Go. Do it! Doesn't cost you anything but time!

Love and stuff,
Michy

There's the team page:

http://www.gifttool.com/athon/OurTeamPage?ID=1891&AID=777&TID=4965

I set a fundraising goal of 250 bucks and a team recruitment goal of 15 writers... so who will be the next to join our team?

I'll go sign up.

NaNoWriMo is not a 3 sentence short story thing. It is a 50,000 word novel in a month thing. If I understand correctly, Michy will donate $10 for everyone who 'wins' (by completing the 50k words) to the NaNoWriMo program., which support literacy programs around the world.

I just joined the team. Michy, is there a team widget or something we can add to our blogs, websites, etc. that will help bring in sponsors?

I don't really know anything about this NaNo business, but a question occured to me. Is this all taken on trust? Surely anyone could say "Yeah, I've written 50,000 words" Is there some sort of proof required?

I promised Terrie I'd go and have a look at this, so I'm off to do that now.

Well, the way NaNo works is that you have to put your manuscript into their wordcount validator in order to be officially recognised as a winner, so I guess that's one way? Of course, you can just write one word 50,000 times since the validator doesn't actually check that and no one reads it, but in that case, what's the point in doing NaNo at all. I guess it does use the honour system to an extent, but you definitely have to provide a manuscript with 50,000 words in it in order to be an official winner.

Thanks for the explanation. I signed up and I have my inspiration, so I'm set to go. Just need to fiddle around over there and find out what's what.

NaNoWriMo has just reached the 4% of all participants donating mark.

Today, our team is at 6% of our goal, with only a couple of weeks left to go. I made a mistake, because I donated 35 bucks and didn't do it through our team page (pout).

I want to talk to you guys about donating though - if you donate just one dollar, if all participants donated just one dollar, NaNoWriMo would have over 100,000 bucks... just think about that. If you think your one dollar doesn't make a difference, and then everyone else thinks that too, there's no money for NaNo to continue.

If you get something out of NaNo, give a little something back, even if it's just a buck.

Trust me... as someone who runs a website that also takes donations, every little bit is truly, deeply appreciated whether it's 1000 bucks or 1 buck. When someone actually takes the time to donate a dollar, I don't scoff at how little it is - I rejoice in knowing that one dollar was probably tough to part with and that makes it mean so much to me.

If you look at my profile:

http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/203294

You'll see that cute little halo above my head? you get that for donating just $10. Don't you all want to be NaNo Angels?

So, go to this page:

http://www.gifttool.com/athon/OurTeamPage?ID=1891&AID=777&TID=4965

Make your donations and enter the username, and we'll meet or donation goals for NaNo, you'll get a cool halo and we'll all be giving back to a site that gives so much to us every year.

thanks ya'll!

And don't forget, we're donating $10 bucks for every one of you guys who wins!

Love and stuff,
Michy
