Merchandise issues...

Hey guys,

So I rarely buy clothes online, but I went ahead and ordered a t-shirt from the NaNo folks. When I clicked the final "submit" button, it told me that my credit card wasn't recognised. I tried again, I tried through PayPal, no luck.

I checked my credit card history, though, and the transaction shows up. The money was actually deducted. I've emailed the NaNo customer support, and they did get back to me, but so far they've just told me to wait a day and then try ordering again.

Except that I'm using a pre-paid credit card system (3V; you buy "vouchers" with Visa numbers, and use them just like you do a normal Visa card), so I actually have no money left on this voucher. It's not a problem with the card, though, because I used it to buy something else on a different site, and like I said, they did deduct the money. But I can't try again, since I have less than €1 left on the voucher now. And I want my money back. Waaaah.

Anyway, the reason why I'm posting is, has this ever happened to anyone else? I don't do this very often, so does anyone have any advice on what I can/should do, etc? I'd be really grateful.

I would wait a few days and call NaNo again just to verify they don't have it recorded in their system. Call Visa and they should return the money to your card (doesn't matter that it is prepaid). I'm not sure about Euro. laws, but in the states, you can process a "chargeback" for any credit, debit or prepaid card where you did not get the merchandise you ordered.

Whew! After all that, I finally ordered the t-shirt now. They were very nice and even offered me a free goodie from their shop (my choice) to make up for the mess-up. I didn't take them up on it though. They run on donations, the last thing they need is people taking stuff for free.

But yes, it took a while, but it's all sorted now. Yay!

NaNoWriMo is really good people... I know you already settled this, but I was going to tell you not to worry - they have always in my experience made it right.

Glad it's settled....!

Love and stuff,

Yes, they were very helpful. Lovely people. It did take a while, almost 2 weeks, but I think that was more because of the credit card side of things than their side. And like I said, they offered me free goodies to compensate... nice of them!
